Moscow, May 1 — SP Trade Company has delivered the first two Liyu Gas Power LY2000 energy units for a landfill in Russia. The project aims to utilize landfill gas and generate 3,200 kW of "green" energy, equivalent to providing electricity to over 3,000 homes. This will not only improve the region's energy efficiency but also mark an important step in reducing environmental impact.

How does it work?

Liyu Gas Power LY2000 installations convert methane, released during the decomposition of organic waste, into electrical energy. Methane is one of the most hazardous greenhouse gases: its impact on global warming is 28–34 times stronger than CO₂. By capturing and utilizing this gas, the project will prevent the annual emission of tens of thousands of tons of CO₂-equivalent. This is comparable to the effect of planting over 300,000 trees.

Environmental and economic impact

Implementing Liyu Gas Power technology will allow:

  • Reducing harmful emissions and improving air quality in the region.

  • Producing renewable energy, substituting fossil fuels.

  • Decreasing fire risks at the landfill by controlling the gas.

  • Creating a foundation for the development of a circular economy, where waste becomes a resource.

"This project is an example of how modern technologies help tackle two global challenges simultaneously: combating climate change and transitioning to clean energy. We are proud that the first installations of this class from China in Russia were implemented with our participation," remarked Andrey Ermolenko, Commercial Director of SP Trade LLC.

The company plans to expand cooperation with Russian regions, offering technologies for converting waste into energy. In the coming years, such initiatives could become the basis for creating "green" cities and achieving the country's carbon neutrality.
